Swami and me

The year was 1998. It was my first visit to the town of Puttaparthi, the name which I'd only heard of vaguely. 'Sai Baba', the man with big hair as I described him when I was young, lived there. I'd only seen him in one photograph, with my grandparents also in it and it was always in the the living room of their house. Everytime I asked about him, my grandpa would just tell me, he's Baba. I do not remember anything more than that. Subsequently, I started witnessing miracles in my aunt's house. Vibhuti coming out from calendars and photos, honey from shirdi baba's idol, rings materialising in a cup of vibhuti began to occur regularly. It was a very different vibration and I was intrigued but all I did was witness them. I had just entered my teens and I was still naïve. It was Christmas time and mom's brothers were visiting Bangalore on vacation. It was an amazing time for my sister and me specially since we got to spend time with my cousin, whom bot...

Buying time

A story I read on Paulo Celho's blog..  A man came home from work late again, tired and irritated, to find his 5-year-old son waiting for him at the door. “Daddy, may I ask you a question?” “Yeah, sure, what is it?” replied the man. “Daddy, how much money do you make an hour? “That’s none of your business! What makes you ask such a thing?” the man said angrily. “I just want to know. Please tell me, how much do you make an hour?” pleaded the little boy. “If you must know, I make $20.00 an hour.” “Oh,” the little boy replied, head bowed. Looking up, he said, “Daddy, may I borrow $10.00 please?” The father was furious. “If the only reason you wanted to know how much money I make is just so you can borrow some to buy a silly toy or some other nonsense, then you march yourself straight to your room and go to bed. I work long, hard hours everyday and don’t have time for such childish games.” The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the door. The man sat down and started to ge...

Architects and Prostitutes... :P

I read this bit of info on a blog  and it just had to catch my attention. Come to think about it , I realised that this is the second time I have seen "architects" and "prostitutes" sharing the blogspace ( if I can say that)... The first one I read was titled, 'Why Architects Drink' and started off with the sentence " the only people who look up at ceilings are architects and prostitutes"... hmmmm!! Excuse Moi!! There are several non- architects and non-  prostitutes who also look at ceilings...Errr when you walk into a space that appeals to you, looking around including the ceiling is obvious isn;t it.. you want to perceive the space around you.. Even boredom makes you take at least one glance at the ceiling. Its all about how inquisitive you are. Coming back to the info I wanted to actually tell you about, I just put it down as it is !! I would definitely want to know what the architecture fraternity has to say about it.. and the non architectur...

Inspiring...

grrrr....

It’s funny how people assume that they can very simply throw anything n everything they use in the kitchen and walk away without bothering to clean them or even wash up, with the opinion that someone who wants to eat will do it and hence the entire kitchen gets cleaned up too. I don't mind doing all of it as long as things aren't taken for granted. It’s been this way for a while now  in spite  of a notice being stuck at eye level, which requests them to keep the kitchen clean. I am pretty sure I’ll lose it soon if this goes on for a few more days. I do have some right in wanting the kitchen to be clean and I just can't tolerate  unhygienic  mess. It is also not fair for only a couple of us to do the cleaning ALL the time when there are 3 more living in with us!!!  Every time I have to come back to see this specially after I've had a long and tiring day, it just gets to my nerves. I just wish I were home at this point so that I wouldn't have to bother about...

Tongue truths!!

Some of the animal tongue facts I have read over a period of time and I thought would be wise to compile before my memory  starts erasing it all up!! 1) A croc cannot stick its tongue out... I pity the little ones, they can't even pull out teasers 2) A giraffe's tongue is blue in colour to protect it from sunburn .... I assumed dogs are the ones who always have their tongue out. 3) A chameleon moves it tongue faster than the human eye can follow and the tongue is also more than twice as long as its body ..... sly creatures I tell you 4) Snakes smell with their tongues.... this is a possible result of an experimental mix n match. 5) A sun bear keeps its tongue rolled within its mouth...(ref pic)  Imagine having one like that, which you could either use to lick ice cream or use the same to cover your eyes or clean your ears..[ Ok i saw this as a signboard in the zoo!!] 6) A lion's tongue is twice as rough as that of a domestic cat.!! The sand paper manufact...
